IB Curriculum at WIS
Key Stage 5: International Baccalaureate
IB Diploma Programme is an intensive transitory phase between high school level education and the demands of higher level independent learning at university. At GEMS Wellington International School, we recognize the strong need for students to develop holistically and become well-rounded internationally-minded citizens of the world. At a time when competition is intense for places in top universities and placements in top companies, it is imperative that our students’ profiles are distinctive and eclectic. Furthermore, we acknowledge that in a world that is becoming increasingly global there is an evident growth in the trend to study and work abroad which has created a need for intercultural understanding and an open-minded approach to learning.
At GEMS Wellington International School, we believe that the IBDP is ‘student centred but teacher led’ and as a result our staff are highly motivated, appropriately qualified and internationally minded IB teachers. Exceptional quality support is offered at a structural and individual level for our students in order to create a highly conducive environment for teaching and learning.

Meet The Head of IB
Welcome to the IB Programmes at GEMS Wellington International School. With a fully inclusive philosophy, we believe wholeheartedly in the IB Programmes and their ability to develop outstanding individuals that will go on to make huge personal and global changes, no matter where their destination.
We offer the IBCP, IBDP and IB Courses options, and in all cases, our students achieve far beyond local and international benchmarks, regularly going beyond what even students believed themselves were possible.
We have one of the largest DP subject offers in Dubai, currently offering 26 DP Subjects and 2 CP Pathways. Our students consistently attend some the world’s top universities and most importantly go to universities they want to go to, to study courses they want to study. I feel privileged to be Head of IB Strategy and Partnerships at GEMS Wellington International School and look forward to welcoming you to our incredible school.

Overview
IB Diploma programme is an intensive transitory phase between high school level education and the demands of higher level independent learning at university. At Wellington we recognize the strong need for students to develop holistically and become well-rounded internationally-minded citizens of the world.
As a school that offers the International Baccalaureate for Post 16 education, we take great pride in promoting academic excellence as well as individual betterment and endeavour. At GEMS Wellington International School, we offer a variety of IB pathways, promoting the inclusive nature of our school. We offer the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP), the IB Career Related Programme (IBCP), as well as the Course programme, each pathway carrying its own merits and opportunities for personalisation. Students thrive on the variety of IB Pathways offered by the school as they are trusted to continue and develop the learning skills established at GCSE, transitioning them into the skills identified by the IB Learner Profile, which is promoted throughout the school. The IB learner profile represents 10 attributes valued by IB World Schools. We introduce these attributes early on in a child’s academic career so that, when they eventually leave GEMS Wellington International School, they are ready to continue the process of life-long learning.
