Ciara Watson

Head of Year 12-13

I arrived in Dubai in August 2016, where I took up my position in GEMS Wellington International School as Teacher of Computer Science and Deputy Leader of Sixth Form.  I was Head of House in my previous school in the UK and am keen to continue working in the pastoral side in the school.  In 2017 I took the position of Head of Year 13 and since then progressed to Head of Year 12 and 13.

I studied in Portsmouth University for my BSc Hons degree in Business Information System following on by completing my PGCE at Brighton University as a teacher of Computer Science.  One of the key areas of education that I have been intrigued by is how technology and changes in society have impacted on the wellbeing of students and young people, even more so with the recent pandemic and changes in education.  These changes have made it very important to ensure that students manage their wellbeing in this challenging time, a large part of my job here at WIS is to ensure that students maintain a healthy balanced life while pursuing their International Baccalaureate qualifications.
